Goal
A goal-progress example
From 100 kg to 90 kg with an 80 kg goal: 10 kg of a 20 kg path is 50% progress.
Units
The same percentage in either unit
100 kg to 90 kg and 220.5 lb to 198.4 lb describe the same ratio after conversion, apart from rounding.
Optional
A result without a goal
Starting and current weight are enough for the change and percentage; the goal field can stay empty.

A gain appears as a negative loss percentage because the formula reports direction, not a judgment.

Common questions
Weight-change math, explained
What is the weight loss percentage formula?
Subtract current weight from starting weight, divide by starting weight, and multiply by 100. A lower current weight gives a positive percentage; a higher current weight gives a negative percentage because the tool is measuring weight loss.
What if I gained weight instead?
The tool labels the change as gained and gives a negative weight-loss percentage. That is arithmetic, not a judgment or a recommendation to pursue a particular outcome.
What does goal progress mean?
It compares the distance already traveled with the total distance between starting and goal weight. It can be below zero or above 100% when the current weight is away from or past the entered goal; no goal means no progress calculation.
Why can’t my goal equal my starting weight?
Progress would require dividing by zero because the start-to-goal distance would be zero. The calculator reports that as an invalid goal rather than inventing a percentage.
What practical context should I keep with this result?
A percentage is one data point. Add medication, food and protein context when you want to understand the routine around the number.
